Support
Like all worthwhile efforts, bringing together partners to tackle a major issue like housing takes time and resources. While the LSCP has committed staff time to the initiative, additional funds are needed to support the implementation of priority items. To enable this, the LSCP Foundation has established the Housing Acceleration Fund (HAF). The HAF is an internal restricted fund within the foundation that limits expenditures to those supported through the work of the Housing Now initiative. All donations to the fund come with tax advantages afforded to any 501c3 donation.
We believe that to meet all our initial priorities, we will need approximately $175,000. This would address numerous items:
-
Funds to continue the Marquette County Housing Specialist position (otherwise expires in 2025)
-
Funds to explore creation of a locally guided Impact Fund to bring more capital tools to the table
-
Funds to index all Marquette County zoning codes into the national Zoning Atlas so developers can easily search for feasible project sites across jurisdictional boundaries, and we can do more research to craft locally relevant policy changes
-
Funds to seed creation of pilot pre-approved blueprints for missing middle housing units, reducing initial soft costs
-
Funds to continue supporting emerging developer events and resources
-
Funds to expand public education efforts on the need and impact of more housing so we can reduce pushback on housing projects
